Norwalk resident Deondre Bowden, 26, was sentenced to 55 years in prison for fatally shooting New Haven resident Lawn Toles, 43, who was reportedly his best friend. Bowden was convicted last year on murder, robbery and weapons charges.
First responders in Bridgeport were dispatched to a stretch of Railroad Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m. on May 24, 2017, where there was a report of a dead body. Upon arrival, officers found Toles with a gunshot wound to the side of his head.
Toles was pronounced dead at the scene. Bowden was arrested less than a week later when he was caught driving Toles’ car while also in possession of Toles’ credit cards. Investigators later recovered a .44-caliber handgun in his Norwalk home and he was convicted by a Superior Court jury following a trial.
